According to the San Antonio Express News this week, it’s a good time to be a landlord in San Antonio. Vacancy rates have plummeted in the past six years from over 20 percent in 2005 to 8.4 percent as of this May. Meanwhile rents are rising. According to Alan Cooper of Wakefield Realtors, landlords are experiencing only a few weeks of downtime between tenants, “just enough time to turn a house around.” See the article “It’s a Good Time to be a Landlord” in the Articles section of the website (Texas Communities – Articles).

The good news keeps coming for San Antonio area property owners. The Milken Institute has just released a report ranking San Antonio as the top City in the nation for growth. A big part of the growth will come from the Eagle Ford shale discovery near San Antonio. This massive oil and gas find is projected to add 10,000 new jobs to the area economy in the next three years. Halliburton announced plans to open a super regional facility with 1,500 jobs. Check out the “Articles on Growth” tab for further information. Now is a good time to consider investing in rental property.

The region continues to grow rapidly. The latest results show San Marcos and New Braunfels both in the top ten fastest growing cities in the entire United States.
